Service & Experience Design
Employer Brand Experience
I am currently leading a significant experience design project focused on our employer brand. The project aims to examine the brand experience of potential candidates, employees, and alumni to improve our recruitment efforts and ultimately drive more quality candidates through the pipeline. This work is particularly important as we navigate the challenges of recruiting in a post-COVID infrastructure industry.
To accomplish this, I am working with key stakeholders such as the executive leadership team, HR, and client experience to analyse data and identify key touchpoints in the candidate and employee journey. We are developing key pillars to guide our strategy and ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints, from the candidate experience to the employee experience to alumni interactions with our brand.
One of the main challenges we face is standing out in a crowded job market, particularly in the infrastructure industry where competition for top talent is high. By focusing on the entire brand experience, we hope to differentiate ourselves from other employers and attract quality candidates who align with our values and mission. We are constantly evaluating our efforts to ensure that our strategy is effective in driving more quality candidates through the pipeline.
Design System for AECOM SaaS Products, 2022
As AECOM's global team of digital professionals expanded to over 1000 members, the need for a consistent and accessible style and visual language across all areas of product design became increasingly clear. To guide our collective efforts, I led a team of two designers in creating an extensive design system with a collection of reusable components and clear principles.
The challenge was daunting, as we needed to communicate the framework to 51,000 people across the globe, implement it for existing products, and apply it to new ones. To address this, we created a guideline document that outlined the stages at which the system should be used, and engaged the Digital AECOM leadership team in the importance of this system to improve the user experience and adoption of our products.
The results have been fantastic. We applied the system to two existing products, and are currently conducting testing with the new UI. Our internal stakeholders and development team are extremely pleased with the results. Even though we launched unofficially only a few months ago, we are already seeing global consistency, with new products in the incubation phase using the new design system.
SaaS products – Pipe maintenance AI tool, AECOM, 2022, UX Designer/Advisor
As a UX Designer/Advisor at AECOM, I worked alongside a team of designers and developers to enhance the SewerLogic platform, a cloud-based technology designed to improve the speed and accuracy of sewer inspection programs. Our goal was to review the existing UI, participate in UX workshops, and offer advice and visuals on how to apply the design system to the platform.
The challenge we faced was that the existing platform had only been designed in dark mode, which made it challenging to determine which information needed to remain. Moreover, since non-technical users would also be accessing the platform, it was important to ensure that the information was not overwhelming and that the calls-to-action were clear and actionable. To address these challenges, we took a curious approach and asked our technical stakeholders many questions to gain a better understanding of the platform's technical aspects. We then developed screens that gave critical importance to the main actions while hiding some technical information. Additionally, we used tooltips and welcome modals to guide less technical users through the platform.
We also developed a comprehensive research plan that included both unmoderated and moderated testing. In the first stage, we conducted an online survey and sent a prototype to our clients.
The results of our work are currently being tested with clients. Our UX consultants have implemented the new design, which incorporates our screens and addresses the challenges we identified. We are excited to see the impact that our work will have on the SewerLogic platform.
PlanEngage.com website design
Lead UX - researching, user flows, personas, sketching, wireframing, visual design, prototyping, design system application, copywriting, UX writing. Team – 2 designers, one developer.
As the Lead Product Designer UX, I led a team of two designers and one developer designing PlanEngage UX. This powerful SaaS tool simplifies and integrates all the reporting and feedback elements of community approval of infrastructure projects. Our goal was to transform how we engage with communities on projects in our digital age.
The challenge was significant, with many stakeholders involved, inconsistent UI across the platform, and the company not being known for SaaS products. To address this, we conducted extensive research, including empathy interviews, user surveys, and testing, and involved stakeholders in the design, ideation, and prototyping phases. We also developed a design system that ensured consistency throughout the platform and applied UX writing and copywriting to improve the user experience.
Our efforts paid off, and we delivered the project on time, with seamless development hand-off.
The result is a platform that simplifies and streamlines community engagement on infrastructure projects, transforming how we approach these projects in the digital age.
